Croatian Ministry for Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy visits social welfare institutions in France

The objective of the visit is to analyze best practices of targeted social assistance
aimed at children and families at risk of poverty.

PARIS, 15 May 2017 – The delegation of the Ministry for Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy of the Republic of Croatia, accompanied by the Secretary of State of the Croatian Ministry Marija Pletikosa, will participate, in the week of 15-19 May, in a study visit to various social institutions in Paris and Tours. The visit is part of a twinning project between Croatia and France entitled Strengthening institutional capacity in social welfare targeting and reducing poverty. The project is funded by the European Union and aims to reduce poverty of families and children in Croatia.
The Croatian delegation will meet their French counterparts from both governmental and non-governmental institutions and bodies focusing on social protection. Leading French NGOs will present the actions implemented in the fight against precariousness. In Paris, Croatian experts will visit the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, the National Fund for Family Allowances (CNAF) and the NGO Secours populaire français (SPF).
In Tours, the delegation will visit the Departmental Council of Indre-et-Loire and the Family Allowances Fund (CAF) to review professional practices and impact of social programmes at the local level. In particular, Croatian and French experts will discuss access to specific rights and services, as well as the development of IT system for monitoring and evaluation of social programmes, important for timely provision of services and prevention of social exclusion of families and children at risk of poverty.
The overall objective of this € 1.1 million project is to improve the targeting of social protection schemes through established poverty indicators and upgraded Ministry’s online database of beneficiaries.
The implementing partner of the project is Expertise France, the French agency for international technical cooperation. The duration of the project is 18 months, from January 2017 to July 2018.
